Carroll County at the Crossroads II
Background

In August 2004, the Carroll County Community Foundation, in partnership with the County Commissioners, launched a county-wide visioning effort. Three, three-hour forums were held to identify issues in the county, create a vision for the future, and develop action plans to move the county forward. Approximately 220 people participated in at least one forum. Six taskforces developed action plans to address important county issues.

Results from this effort led to:
  • Formation of Carroll County Focus on the Future, Inc., a county-wide, non-profit organization to build collaborative efforts in the county
  • Establishment of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, now with ~190 members
  • Full-time director of the Carroll County Economic Development Corporation
  • Establishment of Leadership Carroll County, now with 109 graduates
  • Formation of Friends of Carroll County Parks
  • Various forums and speakers on critical issues facing the county
